Enhancing Game Narrative Through Player’s Feedback from the Community
Challenge
One of our tactical RPG games had been encountering adverse feedback from players concerning translation inaccuracies and grammatical errors across Main Story/Sub Stories, Event Stories, and MomoTalks. Some players have found these errors unacceptable due to their negative impact on the overall narrative experience.
Resolution
To address this challenge, the Community Moderation team collated user feedback and compiled a comprehensive JIRA report. This report was shared with the game’s development team, enabling them to address and rectify the identified text issues effectively.
- Patch Update: The game released an emergency patch to fix translation/typo errors after numerous feedback from the players.
- Proactive Review: Moderators are reviewing diligently the text from MomoTalks and stories during game familiarization. With this approach it engages players early in the process and helps catch errors before they negatively impact the player experience.
- Swift Enforcement: When text/translation and grammatical errors were noticed, moderators immediately created a JIRA report without needing permission from the developers, streamlining the error rectification process.
Result
The actions taken to address this type of issue have significantly improved the localization quality typographical and grammatical issues as there have been minimal errors observed.
Player‘s Feedback: Aside from the swift actions taken, acknowledging errors in MomoTalks and stories prior to player feedback also contributes to building players’ trust and satisfaction.
In conclusion, the case study highlights the importance of player feedback and continuous improvement in addressing language-related issues. The steps taken by the development team, such as releasing emergency patches, proactive monitoring, and swift enforcement, have led to a decrease in the occurrence of such issues and have contributed to improving player satisfaction and overall game quality
